Ivan Poe

Ivan Poe is an art work released as a video game, following a crude cuboid character as they keep on truckin' through the Cosmic Soup.

In 2016 we developed Ivan Poe as a public artwork at Plymouth Art Weekender, as part of The Gold Ones project. This wider performance-fiction explores the lives of an undetermined cohort of higher spiritual beings that exist across time, and reside in the 'Cosmic Care Home' (CCH).

Across 2019 we will re-make Ivan Poe using Unreal Engine 4 to produce a new video game version of this artwork to be distributed online and IRL. The game will traverse different realms within the Cosmic Soup connected by long tubes. Releasing the game digitally will allow a wide audience to download, play and feedback on the game. Alongside online distribution, we will develop different versions of the game to exhibit, play and perform Ivan Poe, experimenting with custom controllers to explore how objects within the fictional world of The Gold Ones can be used for gameplay.
