Reactor Halls E13: Salon dyslexic
Benedict Drew & friends
Saturday 21 February

Doors: 19:00
Performance: 19:30-21:30

An event that attempts to tackle the anxiety and neurosis generated from the condition of dyslexia. Imagining this condition as an academic shanty town, out of which a radicalised position may emerge in opposition to a world evermore dominated by text.

Featuring screenings of Augur (2014) by Nicholas Brooks and Mainland Rock (2014) by Benedict Drew, spoken words by Heather Phillipson, a YouTube music/video lecture, and the second iteration of Drew's Dyslexic Shanty performance with video accompaniment by Rhodri Davies on amplified harp.

The book collects essays that either bring together key performance theories with key theories from Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek, or read certain performances or performance practices through a Žižekian lens. Mine does the latter.
